The device is basically a sterling engine which utilities differences in temperatures to produce motion and in turn create power.

We all love to have our drinks at our own sweet pace but what if the drinks that give you refreshment can also charge your mobile devices? Well now this is also possible as Epiphany Labs, a United Stated based company, has developed a device that converts the warmth or coolness of your beverage into power for your phone.
Now charge your devices with hot or cold beverages
Called as the Epiphany One Puck, the device is basically a sterling engine which utilises differences in temperatures to produce motion and in turn create power. The Puck has a cold and a hot surface, so you have to place the beverage on the appropriate side depending on its nature.

The Sterling engine is not a new technology but an age old concept that aims at delivering cleaner sources of energy but was rejected since it couldn't produce much higher amounts of power. The Epiphany One Puck is small and utilises newer materials that help get a higher efficiency as well as durability in a smaller size.

The company has started working on a prototype and it claims that the device can produce up to 1000 mA or charging current.

Videocon launches 7" VT-71 Tablet for Rs. 4,799

Posted by Madhu Singh On 04 February 2013 0 comments

Videocon has announced the launch of VT 71, an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-powered tablet in India for just INR 4,799. It might not be the cheapest Android tablet in the market, but it certainly seems like a value for money product at the given price-tag.

Videocon VT 71 packs 1.2GHz processor, 7-inch capacitive display with 800x480p resolution, and 3200 mAh battery. The tablet also comes with Wi-Fi connectivity, Front VGA camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage and microSD card slot.

VT 71 also supports 3G connectivity via USB dongle. Among other connectivity options, we have microUSB port, HDMI port and 3.5mm audio jack. Videocon is also providing a free USB OTG cable and HDMI cable in the box free with every purchase.

In terms of the pre-loaded apps, you will get Nexgtv, Saavn, Facebook, Nimbuzz and TOI on the Videocon VT 71. You can download more via Google Play, which is also supported including other Google apps.

The only downside seems to be the lack of Jelly Bean, however given the meagre 512MB RAM, Jelly Bean might not be as smooth as expected on this tablet.

Khalid Zamir, Head Product Planning & Development, Videocon Mobile Phone said, “The Videocon VT71 is aimed towards the emerging tablet market of the country which is on an unprecedented growth spiral as of today, and will become one of the lead generators of revenue in the telecommunications market, going forward.”
